Electric & Hybrid Specialists

Your EV deserves expert care

As more drivers in Doncaster, Bawtry, Tickhill and Rossington switch to electric and hybrid vehicles, we've invested in the training and equipment to service them properly. Our technicians are qualified to work safely around high-voltage systems and understand the unique demands these vehicles place on brakes, tyres, suspension and cooling systems. Whether you drive a full EV or a plug-in hybrid, you can rely on us for thorough, manufacturer-standard servicing at independent garage prices.

What We Service

Comprehensive EV and hybrid maintenance

Brakes

EVs are heavy, which means more strain on braking components. However, regenerative braking means pads often last much longer than on a conventional car. We inspect pads, discs and brake fluid to make sure everything is performing as it should, and we know when regen braking is masking a developing issue.

Tyres

Electric and hybrid vehicles are significantly heavier than their petrol equivalents, and the instant torque wears tyres faster. We fit EV-specific tyres with the correct load rating and low rolling resistance to maximise range. Proper tyre care is one of the most important things you can do for your EV.

Suspension & Steering

The heavy battery pack in EVs and hybrids puts extra load on suspension components. Springs, shock absorbers, bushes and drop links all wear faster. We check and replace these parts to keep your ride comfortable and your handling safe.

12V Auxiliary Battery

Every EV and hybrid still has a conventional 12V battery that powers the car's accessories and electronics. When it fails, the car won't start — even with a full main battery. We test and replace 12V batteries as needed.

Coolant Systems

EVs and hybrids use coolant circuits for battery thermal management and motor cooling, separate from the cabin heating system. We check coolant levels, condition and flow to keep your battery operating within its optimal temperature range.

Diagnostics & Fault Codes

Our diagnostic equipment reads fault codes from hybrid and EV-specific systems including battery management, inverter, motor controller and regenerative braking modules. We interpret the data and give you a clear explanation of any issues.

Air Conditioning

In an EV, the air conditioning system does double duty — it keeps you comfortable and helps manage battery temperature. A properly charged and functioning A/C system protects battery health and preserves your driving range.

MOT Testing

EVs and hybrids undergo the same MOT test as any other vehicle, with a focus on brakes, tyres, lights, steering and suspension. There's no emissions test for pure EVs. We MOT all types of electric and hybrid vehicles at our Doncaster workshop.

Honest About Our Limits

What we don't do

We believe in being upfront. We don't work on the high-voltage battery pack itself or the electric motor internals — that's specialist dealer territory requiring very specific tooling and certification. But everything else your EV or hybrid needs — brakes, tyres, suspension, 12V systems, coolant, diagnostics, air conditioning, MOT testing — we handle right here in Doncaster at a fraction of dealer prices. If we can't do something, we'll tell you honestly and point you in the right direction.

Common Questions

EV & hybrid servicing FAQ

Do electric vehicles actually need servicing?
Yes. While EVs have fewer moving parts than petrol or diesel cars — no engine oil, no exhaust, no clutch — they still have brakes, tyres, suspension, coolant, a 12V battery, cabin filters and air conditioning that all need regular maintenance. Neglecting these can lead to premature wear and expensive repairs. Most manufacturers recommend an annual service or inspection.
How often should I service my EV or hybrid?
Most manufacturers recommend servicing every 12 months or 10,000 to 15,000 miles, whichever comes first. Hybrids with a petrol engine also need oil and filter changes on the same schedule as a conventional car. We follow the manufacturer's service schedule for your specific vehicle.
Are your technicians qualified to work on EVs?
Yes. Our technicians have completed accredited training for working on high-voltage vehicles, covering safe isolation procedures, personal protective equipment and the specific requirements of EV and hybrid systems. This is essential — you should never let an unqualified mechanic work on a high-voltage vehicle.
Can you service a Tesla?
We can carry out brakes, tyres, suspension, 12V battery replacement, air conditioning and general mechanical work on Tesla vehicles. We can also read diagnostic fault codes. What we don't do is work on the high-voltage battery or drivetrain internals — Tesla restricts access to certain systems and software updates. For those, you'd need a Tesla Service Centre.
Will servicing at your garage affect my battery warranty?
No. Under the UK's Block Exemption Regulation, you are free to have your vehicle serviced at any qualified independent garage without affecting your manufacturer warranty, including the battery warranty. As long as the correct procedures and parts are used — which we always ensure — your warranty remains intact. This applies to drivers in Doncaster, Bawtry, Tickhill, Rossington and everywhere else in the UK.
Do you charge EVs while they are in the workshop?
We don't currently have a public EV charging point on site. If your vehicle needs to stay with us, we recommend dropping it off with a reasonable charge. For most servicing work, the battery level won't change significantly.
